Early Life and Education
Rathod was raised in Maharashtra, India. She began appearing on television in 2018, when she made her acting debut in the tenth season of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. That first appearance introduced her to television audiences and began a career that later included serial drama, a web series and a game show. Her education is not detailed in the biographical information used here.
Pranali Rathod’s Career Beginnings
Pranali Rathod made her acting debut in 2018 in the first episode of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya’s tenth season, in a story titled “Pyaar Pehli Baar.” She played Saanvi. Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya is a Hindi television anthology series built around stories of love and relationships, with individual episodes presenting different characters and situations. Rathod’s appearance was a guest role in that episode rather than a continuing character across the season. The role marked her first credited television appearance and gave her an early opportunity to work in a scripted, episodic format.
In 2019, she played Suman Pandey in Jaat Na Poocho Prem Ki, opposite Kinshuk Vaidya. The Hindi romantic drama aired on &TV from June to August 2019 and was also available digitally on ZEE5. Suman and Vaidya’s character, Badal, come from different caste backgrounds and face social opposition to their relationship. Their romance provided the central conflict of the show, while Rathod’s role placed her at the centre of a continuing fiction series. The part made the show her first fiction-series lead, and the series ended after a short run. Moving from a one-episode appearance to a lead role within a year was an important early step in her television career.
Rise to Fame
Rathod gained wider recognition in 2020 as Saudamini “Mini” Bhaumik Greenwood in Barrister Babu. The Hindi period drama aired on Colors TV and followed characters navigating social customs and changing ideas in an earlier era. She played the antagonist opposite Pravisht Mishra and Jason Shah. The role gave her a prominent part in a period drama and called for a different screen presence from her earlier lead role as Suman. It also established her as an actor who could take on a negative character before she moved into another television project the following year.
In 2021, Pranali Rathod appeared as Radha Sahani in Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, a Hindi television drama that aired on Sony Entertainment Television. She also made her web-series debut in Chutzpah, playing Richa. The series was released on SonyLIV in 2021 and used an ensemble cast to tell stories connected to young people and their online lives. Rathod’s role in the web series broadened her work beyond broadcast television. Later that year, she began her best-known role, Akshara Goenka, in StarPlus’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Rathod played Akshara from October 2021 until November 2023, opposite Harshad Chopda. Her performance brought two ITA Awards for Best Actress Popular Drama. In 2022, she also reprised Akshara in the game show Ravivaar With Star Parivaar, a StarPlus programme that brought performers from the channel’s shows together for games and entertainment. The appearance allowed her to return as the character in a non-fiction setting while her scripted series role was continuing.
Major Work
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai became a defining credit in Rathod’s television career. Her character Akshara was part of the long-running StarPlus series, and her pairing with Chopda was recognised in Eastern Eye’s 2023 coverage of Asian stars and television pairings. Rathod and Chopda were placed 30th together in the publication’s “Top 50 Asian Stars” list that year, while their on-screen pairing was described as television’s most popular pairing of 2023. Her time on the series, from October 2021 to November 2023, was also the work for which she received her two ITA Awards.
After leaving the series in 2023, Pranali Rathod took the lead role of Durga Kalmera in Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani. She starred opposite Aashay Mishra in the show, which ran from 2024 to 2025. The television fiction series gave her another central character after the lengthy Akshara storyline and followed several years of work in daily television drama. Rathod’s role as Durga marked her return to a fiction-series lead after Akshara and continued a career in which she had already moved between romantic drama, period drama and a web production.

About Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a Hindi television series broadcast on StarPlus. Produced by Director’s Kut Productions and created by Rajan Shahi, the family drama began airing in 2009 and became one of the channel’s long-running scripted programmes. Its story follows family relationships and changing generations, with the central characters and storylines developing over time. The series’ continuing format has allowed its cast and main story to change, and Rathod joined during a later chapter of the programme.
Rathod entered the show in October 2021 as Akshara Goenka, opposite Harshad Chopda, and remained in the role until November 2023. Akshara became her most recognised screen character and brought the actress to a wider television audience. Her portrayal combined the demands of a continuing daily drama with a prominent romantic pairing, and she received the ITA Award for Best Actress Popular Drama twice for the performance.
The role also led to an appearance outside the main fiction series. In 2022, Pranali Rathod reprised Akshara in Ravivaar With Star Parivaar, a StarPlus game and entertainment programme featuring performers from the channel’s shows. The character’s popularity was also reflected in Eastern Eye’s 2023 coverage: Rathod and Chopda were ranked 30th together in the “Top 50 Asian Stars” list, and their on-screen pairing was recognised in the publication’s year-end attention to television pairings. Her run as Akshara ended in November 2023, closing the role that had become the central credit of her career to that point.
About Barrister Babu
Barrister Babu was the television drama in which Rathod gained recognition for playing Saudamini “Mini” Bhaumik Greenwood. The Hindi period drama aired on Colors TV and presented a story shaped by social customs and the possibility of change. Its historical setting separated it from contemporary family dramas, and the characters’ choices were placed within the conventions of the period. Rathod joined the programme in 2020, after playing the lead character Suman Pandey in Jaat Na Poocho Prem Ki.
Mini was an antagonist, making the part a distinctive early credit for the actress. Rather than carrying the central romantic story as she had in her preceding series, Rathod played a character whose actions created conflict for the other leads. She appeared opposite Pravisht Mishra and Jason Shah. The role therefore placed her in a prominent position in the drama while giving her an opportunity to play a more negative character than Suman.
The series added a period-drama role to a career that had begun with an episodic appearance in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and a lead in a romantic serial. It also preceded several different kinds of work in 2021: Radha Sahani in Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, Richa in the SonyLIV web series Chutzpah and, later, Akshara Goenka in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Mini remains one of the roles most closely associated with Pranali Rathod’s early rise to wider recognition on television.
About Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani
Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani is the television series in which Rathod played Durga Kalmera from 2024 to 2025. She starred opposite Aashay Mishra. The programme was a scripted fiction drama, and Durga was the central role Rathod took on after completing her 2021–2023 run as Akshara Goenka. The part represented her return to a lead role in a television series following the conclusion of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Durga extended a screen career that had included both lead and antagonist roles. Rathod had previously played Suman Pandey in Jaat Na Poocho Prem Ki, Saudamini “Mini” Bhaumik Greenwood in Barrister Babu and Akshara in the long-running StarPlus drama. Playing Durga added another title character to that list and kept her work centred on television fiction. The series ran from 2024 to 2025, with Mishra starring opposite her.
The connection between the two leads continued in a different kind of project after the drama: in 2026, CaratLane’s Teej campaign featured Pranali Rathod and Mishra. MediaNews4U and IMPACT Magazine reported on it in August, and Indian Television Dot Com covered it in September. The campaign was separate from the series, but it brought the two actors together again after their on-screen pairing in Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani.
