Yogesh Rawat’s Early Life and Education
Rawat was born in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, a town in the state’s Kumaon region. Sports and martial arts became important parts of his interests as he grew up. He later trained in boxing, while also taking on work in modeling and digital content creation. These pursuits have given his public career two distinct strands: physical competition and appearances in front of an audience.
His reported sports background includes a black belt in taekwondo and two national gold medals in kickboxing. He has also played football, basketball and wushu at state level. In boxing, he has competed as an amateur and appears in the athlete database maintained by India Boxing, the national governing body for the sport. The database connection sits alongside his reality television work as a formal point of reference for his boxing activity.
Taekwondo and kickboxing are both represented in his stated martial-arts record, while football and basketball reflect his experience in team sports. Wushu adds another combat-sport discipline to that mix. Yogesh Rawat’s participation across these activities is part of the athletic background he brought to screen, rather than a separate career replacing his television appearances.
Yogesh Rawat’s Career
Rawat began appearing on reality television in 2025, joining MTV Roadies XX before moving to MTV Splitsvilla X6 and Lock Upp 2 in 2026. The three programmes put contestants into different kinds of televised competition: a journey built around challenges, a relationship-focused format and a confined reality setting. His roles in each remained those of a contestant, with the outcome changing from one programme to the next.
MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross (2025)
Rawat entered reality television as a contestant on MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross in 2025. The series belongs to the Roadies franchise, a long-running MTV India reality competition in which aspiring contestants face auditions, tasks and eliminations. Its journey format combines physical tests with decisions about team membership and progression, so a contestant’s performance is followed across multiple stages rather than in a single stand-alone event.
The season’s subtitle, Double Cross, framed the competition around trust and strategic choices. Rawat competed under team leader Elvish Yadav, joining a team structure in which contestants take part in challenges while leaders guide and select members. The programme’s mix of individual performance and team dynamics placed his sporting background within a broader contest that also demanded persistence through changing team circumstances.
He was eliminated before the grand finale. Coverage of his departure noted that Yadav was disappointed by the result. For Rawat, the season was his first television competition, and his screen presence was introduced through the Roadies format before he appeared in the more relationship-centred environment of Splitsvilla. His martial-arts and sports experience formed part of his identity as a contestant, though the competition also involved choices and interactions beyond athletic ability.
MTV Roadies XX aired on MTV India, the television channel associated with the franchise. Roadies has been built around contestant journeys, with auditions leading into a sequence of challenges and departures. In this season, the Double Cross title and the team-leader structure supplied the setting for Rawat’s run; the recorded result for him was an exit ahead of the finale.
MTV Splitsvilla X6 (2026)
In 2026, Rawat competed on MTV Splitsvilla X6, also identified as Season 16. Splitsvilla is an MTV India reality series centred on young contestants, romantic connections and competition. Its format places relationship choices alongside tasks and decisions about who remains in the contest, with participants’ bonds and alliances forming part of the unfolding story. This differed from the challenge-led journey of Roadies, even as both shows required contestants to navigate group dynamics in front of cameras.
Yogesh Rawat became one of the early contestants in the season’s Pyaar Villa and was paired on-screen with fellow contestant Akanksha Choudhary. The Pyaar Villa setting placed the developing connections among contestants at the centre of the season’s social environment. Pairings and choices mattered within the show’s competitive structure, and the episode-to-episode format allowed those relationships to be considered alongside the contestants’ progress.
His connection with Choudhary drew attention during the season. The pairing was part of the televised narrative, while Rawat’s own position in the competition continued to be determined by the show’s format and its decisions. The programme’s blend of romance and competition gave his appearance a different emphasis from his earlier run on Roadies, where physical and mental challenges were more prominent in the account of his participation.
Rawat advanced to the final four and finished as a finalist. That was the furthest result among the three reality-show runs described in his career: he had exited Roadies before its grand finale and later left Lock Upp during its season. MTV Splitsvilla X6 therefore became the series in which he reached the last stage of the competition, with his on-screen pairing and the villa’s relationship dynamics forming part of the season’s story.
MTV Splitsvilla has been a recurring MTV India title, using a villa setting and a cast of contestants whose romantic decisions develop alongside competitive challenges. Its seasonal format has changed in details over time, but its central focus remains the interactions and choices of the participants. In Season 16, the Pyaar Villa was the setting associated with Rawat’s early place in the cast, while his final-four finish provides the clear measure of his progress.
Lock Upp 2: Sach Ya Sazaa (2026)
Rawat joined the second season of Lock Upp, titled Sach Ya Sazaa, in June 2026. The reality series brought contestants together in a confined setting, where they lived under the programme’s rules and competed through tasks and interpersonal challenges. Its premise made the shared living environment central to the episodes: contestants had to manage both the demands of the competition and the tensions that could develop among people living together.
The series reunited Rawat with Choudhary, who had also appeared on MTV Splitsvilla X6. Their earlier association gave viewers a connection between the two programmes, but Lock Upp placed the cast in a different setting, with confinement and group interaction shaping the experience. The show also featured host Riteish Deshmukh, whose exchanges with contestants formed part of the televised proceedings.
Yogesh Rawat was evicted in July 2026. His time on the programme generated coverage of confrontations and comments made during episodes. One exchange with Deshmukh concerned Rawat’s remarks about the programme’s ratings; the specific claim and the response to it were covered in the show’s later news cycle. After leaving, Rawat spoke about his disappointment, a reaction that was also reported following the eviction.
Lock Upp first became known as a reality series built around a jail-like setting, contestants living under confinement and tasks that affected their progress. Its title, Sach Ya Sazaa, retained the series’ focus on decisions and consequences. In the second season, Rawat’s role was as a contestant; his exit came in July, after which discussion of his statements and on-screen exchanges continued beyond the episodes themselves.
Sport, modeling and digital content
Alongside television, Rawat has worked as a model and digital creator. Modeling is another part of his public-facing work, while his athletic activities include taekwondo, kickboxing and amateur boxing. His reported record includes a taekwondo black belt and two national kickboxing gold medals; he has also played football, basketball and wushu at state level. These are distinct elements of his background, rather than results from a single competition or television season.
His verified Instagram account identifies him as a digital creator and lists Mumbai and Uttarakhand in his profile. Instagram is the social platform through which he maintains a public account and shares creator content. His television appearances and social-media activity have formed the public-facing parts of his career, alongside modeling and sport. The profile description connects his work online with the creator label, while the account name is @yogeshrawat04.

On July 14, The Times of India reported that he spoke on the programme about shoplifting goods worth Rs 50,000–60,000 when he was younger. Those reports added two separate subjects to the coverage of his season: his reply to Ranaut’s comment and a personal account he made during an episode.
